Node Ident 24

Nodefest is an annual Australian event uniting animation and motion design professionals through talks, workshops and networking. This is my entry for the Node Ident competition in 2024, the theme was "Flora & Fauna": The Outback blooms as the Dingo and Red Belly roam the land
The Red Belly Black Snake was sculpted in Zbrush using various brushes. The snake was created in a straight pose so it could be later prepared for animation in Cinema 4D
This Scene was created using the new particle system in Cinema 4D, the spline follow and flocking modifiers were used to give the particles an organic flow. Cinema 4D's Hair system was used to generate the dingo hair, Redshift's principled hair shader was used to match the hair to that of a Dingo
The Dingo was created using Zbrush. I started with the dog base mesh in Zbrush, then began to alter the shape to match that of a Dingo's body. The face needed to be re-scuplted to closer resemble a Dingo
Once the Dingo sculpt was done and the Hair was working well, I moved into the rigging phase. I decided to rig the Dingo from scratch using the joint tool, the weights were painted and controllers created then it was time to move into animation
The blooming of Native Flora was created using the Mograph features in Cinema 4D. Capsules were used to help the creation of the flora, The Rocket Lasso Branch modifier was used for the growing of branches, other nodes and modifiers were used to help modelling and animation. Cloners, effectors, and fields were used for animation
